TEXAS TAKING THE LEAD IN SAFE REOPENING
It’s no surprise that Texas is taking the lead with a smart strategy to reopen our economy and put Texans back to work. That spirit of resilience is embedded into our community.
We’ve boosted our testing capability, bolstered the capacity of our health care system, and have improved public education about proper risk mitigation. Now, it’s time to trust people with a safe reopening.
Unfortunately, many Democrats and liberal media pundits like to shame red states for reopening too early - claiming that this will needlessly endanger citizens. However, this doomsday rhetoric simply does not match reality. Just look at Texas. CLICK HERE OR ON THE IMAGE TO WATCH.
As I mentioned, it’s clear that most Democrats and many liberal media pundits are the ones shaming Republican states for reopening and actually advocating for continued lockdowns. All the while, most Republicans and red states want to reopen the economy sooner than later. But why is there this partisan divide in the reopening debate?
I examined this very question in the Wall Street Journal this week. There are political reasons for this divide, but there are also psychological differences. Liberals and conservatives view risk, morality, and liberty differently. We also view the role of the federal government entirely differently as well. IT TAKES NO COURAGE TO KEEP PEOPLE LOCKED DOWN IN FEAR
When I was in the Navy SEALS, we always kept on with the mission, even after we made a tactical retreat from our enemy to regroup and prepare to go back on offense. In this case and our war against coronavirus, our mission is to keep our society alive. We will not be able to do that if we keep forcing lockdowns on the American people for too long.
It doesn’t take courage to tell Americans that keeping them locked down is the only way to keep them safe and reliant upon the government. That has never been the contract between the government and the governed in our country.
Moving forward, we need to put the fear mongering rhetoric in the backseat and continue to honestly confront the risk ahead of us. That’s exactly what we’re doing here in Texas and it should start to happen across the country. CLICK HERE OR ON THE IMAGE TO WATCH.
