Good morning Democrats,

We hope you had a wonderful New Year with your loved ones. As we begin 2025, the Democratic Party is excited to share several upcoming events and meetings, including MLK Day events, monthly support groups, the Women's March and opportunities for women who are interested in running for office.

This year, our primary focus will be strategizing for future elections. The DEC is restructuring, and it's the perfect time to get involved and help drive change. We will be forming committees to lead our efforts as the new administration takes office in less than a week. If you're interested in becoming more engaged with the DEC, we encourage you to attend our meetings and local county events to understand where our support is most needed. We are also looking for new precinct captains willing to take on leadership roles.

Looking across our state, appointments to the Trump administration have triggered a series of special elections throughout Florida. In the House, the resignations of Matt Gaetz and Mike Waltz have left vacancies in FL-01 and FL-06. Primary elections for these seats will be held on January 28, 2025, with general elections scheduled for April 1, 2025. Special elections give Florida Democrats an opportunity to organize for the future. See how you can get involved to flip FL-01 blue below.

Our office is now open Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you'd like to volunteer, you can fill out a form in the office or online. We're currently working on our new Democratic letters and will need assistance with voter registration and renewals.

Thank you for all that you do, and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.

Project 2025
The new administration stands ready to implement their comprehensive blueprint for the governance of America -- PROJECT 2025. Formulated and promoted by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, its ideologies are certain to shape American ideals in the years ahead.

The Project’s key objectives are to redefine the federal government’s function and reach. Its proposals are intended to reduce taxes, dissolve or reorganize government agencies, update healthcare and education programs. Included are initiatives for national security and law enforcement, as well as economic and environmental policies.

Accountable.US, a watchdog group spearheaded by US Representative Jared Huffman (D-Calif) is attempting to halt the project. The task force will serve as a central hub for pro-democracy members of Congress, civil society, and affected communities to coordinate on examining, highlighting, preempting and counteracting this plot to undermine democracy.

"PROJECT 2025 Remaking American Governance," by Andy S. Rhoden serves as a clearly written summary of the project components.
