Los Angeles Remains Aflame, But At Least It Has a Gay Choir

If your city was engulfed with flames, would you rather have water or a transgender cafe?

Unfortunately, Los Angeles residents only seem to possess the latter. A deep dive into LA County’s budget reveals that Mayor Karen Bass allocated tens of thousands of FY 2024-25 dollars to a “Midnight Stroll Transgender Cafe,” a “Gay Men’s Chorus,” and other homosexual pride programs while cutting nearly $18 million from the fire department and failing to ensure the city’s hydrants were properly functioning.

The budget also granted $170,000 for “Social Justice Art-Worker Investments,” $13,000 for “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Heritage Month Programs,” and nearly $10,000 for the “One Institute the International Gay and Lesbian Archives.”

The beginning of the California fires was out of any political actor’s control, but the state’s ineffective response is the result of unserious people occupying consequential public offices. If “wokeness” is a leader’s top priority, they will be highly unlikely to respond well to a real-world crisis. Californians are learning that the hard way.

Lawless Looters Exploit LA Crisis

Opportunistic criminals are heartlessly exploiting the California fires for personal gain, leaving law enforcement scrambling to fight both the raging flames and the anarchists trying to cash in on some free stuff.

LA’s years of soft-on-crime policies created an environment where looters feel emboldened to kick at their community when it’s already down. The citizens are the victims. In addition to seeing their homes burned and valuables stolen, city residents are now forced to fund police efforts to stop these invasive criminals when cops should be fully focused on combating the state’s ongoing natural disasters.

Morally Corrupt Biden Lauds “Good Man” Jimmy Carter

Joe Biden, seemingly unburdened by his catastrophically unethical record, spoke during Jimmy Carter’s funeral on Thursday and called the recently-deceased statesman a “good man” who understood the value of “character, character, character.”

“Jimmy Carter’s friendship taught me the strength of character is more than title or the power we hold,” Biden hazily recalled. “It’s the strength to understand that everyone should be treated with dignity, respect; that everyone — and I mean everyone — deserves an even shot.”

The dementia-ridden president has no ground to stand on when it comes to judging the morality of others. As a senator, he rigged committee hearings to ensure Dick Cheney’s egregious Iraq invasion received authorization. As vice president, he backed the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which would have killed untold numbers of American jobs. And as president, he forced his fellow countrymen to take unnecessary and ineffective drugs, decrying those who refused as reprehensible dangers to society.

If Carter really told Biden that “everyone should be treated with dignity,” the advice fell upon deaf ears.

PAYING NO RESPECTS: Michelle Obama Ditches Carter Funeral for Hawaii Vacation

Michelle Obama was the only living first lady to miss Jimmy Carter’s funeral, opting to continue her lavish and expensive extended holiday vacation in Hawaii instead.

Mrs. Obama’s spokesperson said that in lieu of bothering to show up for the service, the former first lady “sends her thoughts and prayers to the Carter family.” A tropical resort is a pretty deluxe place to think and pray.

Similar to how the Bidens and Clintons have cashed in during their post-White House lives, Barack and Michelle Obama’s wealth has ballooned over the past eight years. Judging by the decision to prioritize vacation over honoring a dead president, that money is probably going toward some exceptionally extravagant luxuries.

Michelle’s absence liberated her husband to spend the service mingling with a far more interesting pewmate: Donald Trump. The two presidents spent the service laughing and exchanging pleasantries as Kamala Harris looked on with a scowl.

ICE Director Blasts Open Border Biden’s America Last Immigration Agenda

ICE chief Patrick Lechleitner lambasted Joe Biden’s inept border policies Thursday, saying the president “absolutely” should have worked to stop the influx of illegal immigration that has taken place under his watch.

“It’s unfortunate because I think we could have done more,” Lechleitner said in an interview. “We could have put more resources to it, either at [Customs and Border Protection], for the border itself, [or] with ICE.”

The president’s border strategy failed all affected parties except three: the aliens who broke into the United States, the Democratic Party, which views them as future voters, and foreign countries that knew the U.S. would welcome their dangerous criminals with open arms. It made the American public less safe, the country’s culture less coherent, forced taxpayers to fund the invaders’ food, housing, and travel, and prevented law enforcement from doing its job.

Biden’s vast array of open border executive orders makes it clear that America’s illegal immigrant crisis exists by design. That’s this story’s most damning wrinkle. He wanted this to happen.

Secret Service Cocaine Cover-Up Exposed

The Deep State may run even deeper than you think.

Congressman James Comer’s new book accuses the Secret Service of destroying evidence during its 2023 White House cocaine investigation, covertly working to protect whichever Biden administration party animal wanted to run some lines on the job.

Recall July of that year, when agents ordered a West Wing evacuation after finding a bag of white powder inside the president’s house. While the initial story made headlines, little ever came of it. 11 days later, the Secret Service closed its investigation without naming a suspect, citing “a lack of physical evidence.” That always felt fishy, and Comer’s allegation could explain what really happened.

Whose reputation could the Secret Service have been protecting? Does Joe like the blow?

Dem Going MAGA? Fetterman Set to Visit Mar-a-Lago

John Fetterman shocked the political world on Thursday, announcing imminent plans to visit Mar-a-Lago and meet with Donald Trump.

“I think it's pretty reasonable that if the president would like to have a conversation — or invite someone to have a conversation — to have it,” Fetterman said when asked about the rationale behind his plans. “And no one is my gatekeeper."

The Pennsylvania senator’s open-mindedness reflects the beauty of the United States. Americans are free people; free to think what they want, speak as they please, and associate with whichever crowds or individuals they choose. As much as Fetterman’s party’s leadership surely desires to stop him from giving the president-elect a fair shot, it can’t. Just like it couldn’t stop millions of its former voters from flocking to the GOP in November’s election.

Italian Mayor’s Solution to Public Illness? Make Being Sick Illegal

The Italian village of Belcastro is embracing a fascinating governing strategy: rather than address the root causes of an issue plaguing the community, the mayor is opting to make the problem itself illegal.

A new mayoral decree orders the town’s residents, half of whom are 65 or older, “to avoid contracting any illness that may require emergency medical assistance."

Imagine if other leaders copied that model. Pittsburgh has a known issue of pedestrians being mowed down by Port Authority buses. Perhaps the city council should make getting hit by a bus illegal? Or in Colorado, where ski accidents are naturally more common than in the rest of the country. Could banning taking a tumble on the slopes be the answer? You may ski, but thou shall not fall.

In reality, the Belcastro sickness ban is "obviously a humorous provocation" designed to bring attention to the area’s failing healthcare system. The Calabria region, where Belcastro is located, has closed eighteen hospitals since 2009, causing nearly half of its residents to seek medical assistance elsewhere.

Anthony Fauci Better Hope Joe Biden Grants Him a Pardon

Anthony Fauci is one of 21st-century Washington’s shadiest figures.

His record of using taxpayer dollars to lie about COVID, forcing healthy Americans to take ineffective and unnecessary novel drugs, and potentially colluding with the Chinese military to develop multinational bioweapons makes it hard to reach any other conclusion.

Rather than holding contempt for those and plenty of other destructive acts, the D.C. establishment heralds the longtime NIH director as the heroic personification of science; an American hero who must be celebrated and worshipped if there ever was one. Fauci is science, they and he say. So if you question him, you stand opposed to truth, progress, innovation, and of course, keeping your grandparents alive.

Fauci’s flowery public image is the result of one of the ruling class’s most carefully and effectively crafted propaganda jobs, but a major step in the inevitable process of their mirage’s implosion took place this week. By revealing that he’s considering a preemptive pardon for Dr. Fauci, Joe Biden accidentally confided that there’s more to the famed COVID propagandist than he and his allies let on.

Considering such an action would be illogical if Fauci had not engaged in some kind of illegal activity. His apparent blatant perjury in 2021, telling Congress under oath that the NIH did not fund any gain-of-function research in Wuhan, could prove that he did. What other secrets could Biden know?

Thanks to a potential pardon, the public may never know the full truth about Dr. Fauci’s career. That should be music to the recently retired doctor’s ears, but it’s a disaster for the country. A government free of accountability has no reason to earnestly serve the public, leading to a leadership class that looks down upon its constituents rather than waking up every day seeking to advance their interests.

That dynamic explains a lot about what’s wrong with Washington.

Kamala Harris, mourning both her election loss and Jimmy Carter, was less than thrilled to see Barack Obama chatting with Donald Trump.

This Day in History

January 10, 1983: New York Supreme Court Justice Richard Lane bars the New York Yankees from playing their home opener in Denver. Organization owner George Steinbrenner had plotted to expand the Yankee brand to a national level, seeking to use purportedly dangerous stadium renovations as an excuse to justify taking the team “on tour.” Unfortunately for Steinbrenner, the club was contractually obligated to play each of its home games in New York. They wound up doing just that and missing the playoffs.
