Friend,
As residents of California, we are devastated at the destruction of the
uncontained Los Angeles County wildfires burning right now.
Our hearts go out to the more than 180,000 people evacuated, and our more
than 17,000 Courage California members in the area. Thousands of homes
have burned to the ground, and several lives have already been lost.
It’s vital as a California organization that we come together and support
those who are losing their housing, their livelihoods, and their
communities to these fires.

As the impacts of climate change worsen, we will continue to see these
tragedies impact our state.
We are seeing in our friends and neighbors the real-world effects of each
successive wildfire being dubbed the “worst ever.” We’re seeing what
happens when the Earth’s temperature warms and droughts last longer, and
when the wind blows too rough to put the fires out.
We will continue to demand that our leaders work to rein in climate change
and slow these weather disasters. But right now, we can come together
California strong and support those who are immediately suffering.
Organizations on the ground need everything from blankets to clothing to
food to feminine hygiene products, and we can help that effort.
