Tell the Senate: Direct aid where the need is greatest, not more handouts to the rich and corporations.

John,

The House of Representatives passed the wide-ranging HEROES Act which takes solid steps forward. This legislation provides more than $1 trillion to boost the budgets of states and localities to prevent cuts to essential services like education, health care and public safety. It creates funding for medical treatment and testing, extended jobless benefits and paid leave, housing assistance and food security. This measure also ensures Americans will have the ability to vote by mail this fall.

Read Deborah’s email below and then add your name! Demand the Senate stop playing politics with the pandemic and pass legislation that addresses the top needs of the American people.

Thanks for taking action today on behalf of people and families who have been hardest hit by the pandemic.

Tell the U.S. Senate:

"The House has passed the HEROES Act, which includes a wide range of essential provisions, including aid to our states with funds to prevent cuts to essential services like education, health care and public safety; funding for coronavirus medical treatment and testing; direct aid for struggling families; a boost to SNAP nutrition assistance; increases to housing support; extensions of jobless benefits and paid leave; the ability for people to vote by mail this November; and repeals $250 billion in tax handouts to millionaire business owners. Now, it’s up to the Senate to pass legislation that addresses those same priorities."

John,

More than 36 million Americans have lost their jobs since the onset of this pandemic. This is not a recession. We are on the verge of a depression—and we need continued, effective aid packages by the federal government sufficient to address ongoing hardships and get the economy moving again.

First and foremost, we need to get money in people's hands. Tens of millions of families are struggling to make ends meet. Poverty and hunger throughout the United States are dramatically increasing; if the moratoria on evictions are allowed to expire, there will be a disastrous surge in homelessness. And states throughout our country are hemorrhaging money and need to have the federal government serve as a backstop.

There is no time to delay.

The House of Representatives passed the wide-ranging HEROES Act Friday which takes solid steps forward. This legislation provides over $1 trillion to support the budgets of states and localities to prevent cuts to essential services provided by frontline workers, teachers, first responders, health care and other workers, nearly a million of whom have already been laid off. It provides funding for medical care and testing, extended jobless benefits and paid leave, housing assistance and food security. This measure also ensures Americans will have the ability to vote by mail this fall.

Add your name! Tell Mitch McConnell and the Senate that they must recognize the severity of this crisis and pass legislation to address these priorities.

The HEROES Act is an important step to help all of us get through this crisis. The Senate must join the House of Representatives and put people before corporate interests as they consider the next package of legislation to address the ongoing crisis.

Together, we need to make it clear that we are going to stop Mitch McConnell from using the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to create tax-giveaways for CEOs and Trump's wealthy friends. And we are going to block him from passing legislation to protect companies from lawsuits about working conditions that invite COVID-19 infections.

We can't stand by and let Mitch McConnell play politics with people's lives. Let's demand the Senate provide people with the relief measures they desperately need and deserve.

Add your name! Tell Mitch McConnell that the Senate must recognize the severity of this crisis and immediately pass legislation that addresses the top priorities of the American people.

Thank you for your support during this challenging time,
