After more than 1,000 days of war in Ukraine, millions of Ukrainians are now surviving their hardest winter yet. Through it all, UNFPA is doing all we can to help:

"Even during the most severe winter frosts, our assistance to patients does not stop. We have to reach out because often these are the only available consultations for them," shared Dr. Kucher , a gynecologist with a UNFPA Mobile Health Clinic in Ukraine.

UN News reported that 65% of Ukraine's energy production capacity has been destroyed, which means power outages could last up to 18 hours a day this winter.

The most vulnerable — newborns, pregnant women, the elderly, and young children — will go almost all day without heat in freezing temperatures and face extreme health risks as a result.

Beyond the damage to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, there have been more than 2,000 attacks on health care facilities since the war began.

The need for UNFPA Mobile Health Clinics, including Dr. Kucher’s, is exceptionally high. They serve women who live in villages without health care facilities or who are close to the front line and have extremely limited access to medical services.

In total, our 29 mobile health teams and staff across Ukraine have reached more than 320,000 people with essential sexual and reproductive health services this year. This includes providing prenatal care, safe delivery services, family planning consultations, youth empowerment sessions, referrals to safe shelters for survivors of violence, and mental health counseling.

We have also distributed 33,492 UNFPA Winter Dignity Kits and Mama Kits to women, girls, and new mothers surviving the cold. These kits contain items like menstrual products, soap, a toothbrush, diapers, clean clothing, and warm blankets so women and girls can take care of themselves and their families this winter.

But to provide the help the women in Ukraine need, we are asking you to step up with a contribution. Your support is needed now more than ever. Why?
