Hi John,
It's a new year and a new Congress, but the same old corruption still exists. Members of Congress can still trade stocks, even in companies under their direct oversight. This isn't a partisan issue: members of BOTH parties have profited hugely from stock trading while in office. It's an unfair conflict of interest that allows politicians to profit from their insider knowledge, and it needs to stop.
Help us keep the pressure on this new Congress and demand they pass the ETHICS (Ending Trading and Holdings in Congressional Stocks) Act.
This legislation prohibits members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent minors from owning or trading securities, commodities, or futures while in office.
Let's start as we mean to go on – by telling politicians we won't stand for corruption, and they need to do better.
