Friend,

This week President Biden signed the Social Security Fairness Act, a bipartisan bill I co-sponsored to improve Social Security benefits for millions of public servants.

For years, dedicated public servants like teachers and firefighters have had their Social Security benefits unfairly reduced, despite paying into the program like everybody else. Under this new law, millions of Americans, including hundreds of thousands of Texans, will have their full benefits restored.

I am proud to have co-sponsored this bill – and I’ll continue to do everything in my power to protect critical programs like Social Security for future generations. But unfortunately, many of my colleagues want to slash Social Security — that’s unacceptable.

Can you chip in $10, $25, or whatever you can, to help me continue to protect Social Security? We must fight back against attempts to cut Social Security benefits or raise the retirement age.

Friend, Social Security has been a lifeline for millions of Texans who earned their benefits by paying into the program throughout their life. People like my grandmother, who never had a pension or 401K working as a maid, a cook, and a babysitter—but counted on her monthly Social Security check.

But unfortunately, some of my Republican colleagues have proposed slashing Social Security to pay for more tax cuts for the ultra wealthy and big corporations.

Trump and Congressional Republicans have already said they want to pass their tax bill immediately after Trump is inaugurated. So it’s critical that we prepare RIGHT NOW to push back against this attempt to steal Americans’ benefits.

Can you have our backs on this?

Chip in $10, $25, or whatever you can to help us defend Social Security and push back against this handout to billionaires and big corporations? We cannot allow working families to foot the bill for tax breaks for billionaires.

Thank you,
– Joaquin
