[link removed] [[link removed]] John,
Donald Trump is once again asking the Supreme Court for a “get out of jail free” card.
Trump just filed an emergency appeal to the Supreme Court asking it to halt his sentencing in his New York criminal case, which is scheduled for tomorrow.
Trump was found guilty in a fair trial of 34 felonies of falsifying business records in order to influence the 2016 election.
It’s time for him to finally be sentenced just like any other convicted criminal.
The Supreme Court has already granted him too many free passes. It ruled that former presidents have sweeping criminal immunity. And it allowed him on the ballot despite his incitement of insurrection. These rulings have set a dangerous precedent—and allowing Trump to avoid sentencing for his crimes would be yet another step down an ominous path.
No one—not even Donald Trump—can be above the law. The Supreme Court must let Trump’s sentencing date tomorrow stand.
