What's changed: Republicans will be forced to defend some of their most vulnerable Senate seats, including Susan Collins (ME) and Thom Tillis (NC). Ohio and Florida now have vacant Senate seats, which will require special elections to fill — and special elections can yield very surprising results.

Worst of all for the GOP, Trump won’t be on the ballot. That’s terrible news for Senate Republicans, who relied on his popularity to turn out millions of infrequent and disengaged voters in 2024. ( Even with that critical boost, Republicans STILL lost four Senate races in Trump states.)

To make a long story short, flipping the Senate in 2026 is absolutely doable if we start preparing today.
