New Jewish Narrative webinar with NJN President and CEO Hadar Susskind, Director of Government Relations Madeleine Cereghino, and Hassan El-Tayyab of the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FNCL)

Please join us for the first New Jewish Narrative webinar of 2025! The 119th Congress has just been sworn in, and the presidential inauguration will take place in just over a week. We will dig into what the new Congress and administration will mean for New Jewish Narrative, our community, and our work. We’ll be talking about initial signals from incoming government officials, what projects we’re already gearing up for, and generally putting together a picture of what to expect from both Congress and the incoming administration. We hope to see you there.

On January 3rd, the 119th Congress convened, and New Jewish Narrative was on Capitol Hill to welcome both longtime allies and new partners to this pivotal new session. With 34 new Democratic members in the House and six in the Senate, this marked an important opportunity to introduce ourselves and the mission of New Jewish Narrative to fresh faces in Congress.

While many share our concerns about the challenges posed by the 119th Congress and the incoming Trump Administration, Swearing In Day was a moment to celebrate the achievements of our partners and to reinforce the critical relationships that will drive progress in the months ahead.

Statement on the Anniversary of the January 6th Insurrection

January 6, 2025- Four years ago today, on January 6, 2021, violent insurrectionists stormed the capitol building in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Today, on the fourth anniversary of that attempted coup, we at New Jewish Narrative continue to stand for democracy and justice. As we have said many times before: political violence is never the answer.

We urge our community: Do not take the peaceful transition of power for granted— and do not forget the violence, hate, and misinformation that was perpetrated so recently here in our nation’s capital. We must all continue to speak up and speak out in the face of misinformation, corruption, and hatred.

At New Jewish Narrative, we are proud to work alongside our partners towards peace and progress every day-- in Israel, in North America, and around the world.

Shalom Achshav- The Israeli Peace Now movement, Shalom Achshav, was established in 1978, when 348 Israeli senior reserve army officers and combat soldiers came together to urge their government to sign a peace treaty with Egypt. They knew then what remains true today – real security for Israel can be achieved only through peace.

Habonim Dror- Habonim Dror North America was founded in 1935 as the Labor Zionist youth movement. Since its founding it has been unrivaled in developing young Jewish leadership with an unshakable love of Israel, a deep commitment to social justice, and dynamic leadership capabilities.

J-Link- J-Link is an international network of progressive Jewish organizations across Latin America, the United States, Canada, Europe, South Africa, Australasia, and Israel. Amongst growing uncertainty and polarization around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, we serve as a united, expert voice advocating for lasting peace, justice, and security.

Project Rozana-Project Rozana was established in 2013 and has since grown to become an international organization with branches in Australia, Canada, Israel, United Kingdom and United States. The initiative is committed to building bridges between Israelis and Palestinians through the field  of healthcare, an area of civil society where both peoples meet on a broad scale. The organization aims to improve access to medical treatment for Palestinians in Israeli hospitals, while significantly expanding healthcare capacity on the West Bank and in Gaza.

Kibbutz Program Center- The Kibbutz Program Center is dedicated to connecting young adults across the United States and Canada with exciting and inspiring programs in Israel.  As one of the premier providers of long and short term Israel experiences both on and off kibbutzim in Israel, KPC offers a wide range of options. Some experiences focus on Hebrew language while living within the unique society of kibbutz.

Adding 1,107 Dunams to the Jurisdiction of the Adam Settlement for Legalizing an Illegal Outpost

January 9, 2025- The Civil Administration recently published a notice of intent to expand the jurisdiction (municipal boundary) of the Adam settlement (AKA Geva Binyamin) by approximately 1,107 dunams east of Ramallah. The public has been given three weeks to object. The area includes the illegal outpost “Bnei Adam” as well as land that was previously inhabited by Palestinian families from the community of Briyat Hizma, who were violently expelled in October 2023. Establishing a municipal boundary is one of the necessary steps for legalizing the outpost and preparing a plan to legalize the homes.

The publication reveals that in October 2023, the government declared about 501 dunams as state land, and that in January 2023, a Blue Line was drawn for about 1,300 dunams of state land in the area of the Bnei Adam outpost. The declaration and the blue line were not published on the Civil Administration’s website as is customary.
