Help us contain the coronavirus outbreak and deliver emergency relief worldwide.

Dear John,
I just received some startling information about COVID-19 testing to share.

In Yemen, there are only 31 coronavirus tests per million people. In northeast Syria, 59 tests per million. And in Chad, 105 tests per million.

John, the danger is clear. Without a significant increase in testing, COVID-19 will likely spread undetected in these fragile and conflict-affected countries—leading to uncontrolled outbreaks among the most vulnerable populations in the world.

John, your support is urgently needed. Give now to help us mitigate the spread of the virus and provide ongoing, emergency relief for refugees around the world.

As COVID-19 impacts crisis zones, widespread testing is crucial in helping us scale up our response. It helps to drive three important measures to stop the spread of the disease: contact tracing, isolation of confirmed cases and treatment for those who fall ill.

With the support of donors like you, our teams on the ground are working around the clock to deliver vital aid to refugees and displaced families, including essential health services, emergency hygiene kits and protective gear. We've set up triage and virus screening stations in health facilities, refugee camps and at transit points.

But, the significant shortage of tests presents a huge impediment to containing the coronavirus outbreak in the crisis-affected countries where we work—and worldwide.

The IRC's data suggests a far larger but undetected level of population infection. Notable upticks in growth rates this week alone are of concern in countries like El Salvador, Nigeria, Yemen and Afghanistan.

John, this confirms that the pandemic is growing, and that we still have a lot of work to do. We need to act immediately.

Please make an immediate donation to help us reach vulnerable families who will be hit hardest by the pandemic. Your gift will help us contain the coronavirus outbreak and support our lifesaving programs worldwide.

John, what's clear from all our data is that we are in a global fight against COVID-19, together.

Thank you for standing with refugee families who need us now more than ever.

With humanity,

Emily Martin
