Every door knocked, every call made, every conversation that changed hearts and minds in 2024 – it all began with a volunteer choosing to show up.

As our party reflects on last year's victories, we've uncovered countless stories of extraordinary people who worked behind the scenes, never seeking the spotlight, but making everything possible.

Late last year, we asked Democratic leaders to nominate an unsung campaign hero. Here are a few of their stories:

Manchester Town Chair nominated Harun Ahmed - Harun is always a phone call away. It doesn't matter if you need help putting together signs, organizing a small army to drive voters to the polls, get a group together to do door to door canvassing, clean the headquarters and take the trash home to his own garbage can, Harun is always there. He always has a smile and is always agreeable and knows how important the mission is.
Westport Town Chair nominated Robin Weinberg - Robin serves as Westport DTC Secretary, GOTV Co-Co-chair, and served as our state representative’s campaign manager. She works extremely hard, and always finds the time to fully devote herself to every role, and she’s the Westport DTC’s organizational glue. We wouldn’t succeed without her, and I wouldn’t succeed without her!
Waterbury State Central Member nominated Sharon DelBianco - Sharon has volunteered on nearly every democrat campaign in Waterbury for the last 42 years. She will do early morning visibility, make phone calls, clean and organize our headquarters. Sharon knocks on doors, puts up signs, and has hand addressed thousands of envelopes.

These stories remind us that campaigns aren’t won by individuals—they’re won by communities of people willing to roll up their sleeves and get to work.

I had the privilege of speaking directly with many of these volunteers to thank them personally. Hearing firsthand how these folks went above and beyond to support our efforts was inspiring.

We appreciate each and every person who volunteers their time for the good of our Connecticut Democratic Party. To all of our unsung heroes—THANK YOU!
