John,
The far-right and Trump have a playbook. They rely on dog whistles, fear-mongering, and sowing dissension and hate.
They want you to believe that violent crime is skyrocketing to push their agendas and rip apart our communities with distrust.
Here’s the reality: overall crime rates are NOT rising. The rate of gun homicides is actually DOWN 13.1% compared to 2023. That’s in no small part thanks to people like you who have volunteered, signed petitions and donated to our movement to end gun violence.
But it’s not all good news. Domestic violence and hate crimes are increasing, many of which are fueled by far-right rhetoric. These acts of violence are made far worse, more dangerous, and deadlier with access to guns.
If the far-right and Trump REALLY cared about safety and human lives they would denounce the NRA, stop lining their pockets with money from the gun lobby, and pass comprehensive gun safety legislation. Will they do it on their own? Yeah right…
We can’t depend on “leaders” like Trump, an extremist Supreme Court, and a far-right-dominated Senate and House to get this done.
It’s up to us to push gun safety forward, especially in this first year post-election. We’ve made progress during the Trump administration before, and we know while it won’t be easy, it’s possible.
Onwards,
Team March For Our Lives
Your Personal Invite To the Movement Fund 💌💙 At March For Our Lives, we call our monthly supporter program The Movement Fund. Why are monthly recurring donors so important? The amount of one-time individual donations we receive as an organization varies vastly from month to month. Without a steady stream of monthly donations coming in our door, it would be impossible to accurately plan our budgets, create long-term strategies to win a future free from gun violence, plan and execute on-the-ground organizing efforts, recruit and train more gun safety champions, and more. |
