Dear John,
We are making important progress because you stand with Farm Sanctuary in our shared mission to transform the lives of farmed animals and change our food system.
Below are a few key highlights we achieved in 2024 with your help.
This past year, Farm Sanctuary:
- Joined five coalitions, submitted 26 letters to support policies and, as part of the Healthy Future Students and Earth Coalition, persuaded the USDA to prioritize and increase student access to plant-based foods in the

updated child nutrition meal patterns.
- Supported a coalition effort to pass the California Oppose Cruelty to Octopuses (OCTO) Act, spearheaded by Assemblymember Steve Bennett—making California the first state to ban farmed octopus sales and the second to ban octopus farming. With George Washington University, hosted a

- After extensive research and collaboration, we released the groundbreaking

- Opened a vegan cafe, garden, and learning center at our NY sanctuary. Helped the Green Rural Redevelopment Organization expand by1020% through a Farm Sanctuary pilot, shifting 1.4 million meals for animals, people, and the planet. Continued exploring land trusts and other ways to incentivize plant-based agriculture.
- Placed op-eds and earned major media coverage, reaching hundreds of millions about bird flu and other critical issues; garnered over 71 million social media views; reached 340k NPR listeners in Washington, D.C. with the help of Marilyn and Donald Allan; and published the peer-reviewed study

Pecking Up Optimism , which elevates understanding of chickens’ emotional lives.
- Reached over 50,000 students through education programs and curriculum and launched the
