Heaven and Hill: What the Religious Breakdown of the 119th Congress Tells Us about Today's Parties |
by Suzanne Bowdey |
You probably wouldn't know it by the legislation they pass and the debates they have, but Capitol Hill is one of the most religious places on earth. At least in theory. According to Pew's faith survey of the new Congress - something they've been doing since 2009 - Christianity isn't as rare in the House and Senate as the media and Left would have you believe. Nearly every single Republican (265 out of 270) identifies as a believer. And while that won't come as a surprise, the breakdown of Democrats is guaranteed to be. |

by Chuck Donovan |
As winter cold grips much of the mainland United States, thoughts have suddenly turned to an even colder place, the massive island straddling the Arctic Circle to our northeast. Thanks to a series of comments by President-elect Donald Trump over Christmas, Greenland is, well, a hot topic. |

Conservatives Beware, the Battle Is Won but the War Is Not Ended |
by S.A. McCarthy |
Victory is sweet, especially after nearly a decade of being ostracized, demonized, and maligned as racists, fascists, and Nazis. President-elect Donald Trump's resounding victory in November heralds a new age in the U.S. and a renewal of the American spirit that once made this nation great. However, it is crucial that conservatives recognize that Trump's electoral victory is far from a completed conquest; it is, rather, the first battle won in what must certainly be a much longer war for the heart and soul of America. Amidst the victory celebrations and ensuing excitement, conservatives must remain wary, for there are enemies still afoot, and not all are easily recognized. |

The Laken Riley Act (LRA) moved through the House in a 264-159 vote with 48 Democrats supporting the bill. Should it pass in the Senate as well, the act will require detention of migrants arrested for crimes like theft. |

by Sarah Holliday |
There's a local law in Carbondale, Illinois, that prohibits "approaching women outside clinics to advise of abortion alternatives." A pro-life advocacy group has challenged this law time and again, despite being dismissed. However, in a January twist, the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) has agreed to consider the petition put forth by Coalition Life (CL). |

Taxpayer-Funded Podcast Promotes Satanism, Paganism, and Animal Sacrifice |
by Ben Johnson |
The outgoing Biden-Harris administration awarded a federal grant to a podcast that promoted the Church of Satan, paganism, a Cuban cult that practices animal sacrifice, astrology, an LGBT-friendly school of witchcraft, and other "magico-religious" beliefs. The series equates being filled with the Holy Spirit with demonic possession, compares Christian prayer with New Age meditation, warns that opposition to the occult can harm "innocent Satanists," and insists it is possible to be a Christian and "to work magically with non-biblical spirits." |
