John,

Each year, 70 million adorable rabbits are forced into tiny cages so small
they can’t even sit up or stretch out, let alone hop … all to meet
skyrocketing demand for rabbit meat.

The level of cruelty these social creatures are subjected to is hard to
fathom – but now we have a rare chance to end it.

The European Commission vowed to release its plan to ban caged animal
farming a year ago... then missed its own deadline. But a key council
meeting is just WEEKS away, giving us a perfect opportunity to FORCE them
to prioritize banning caged rabbit farming.

If we can quickly raise enough, we’ll launch a massive lobbying push to
get this ban over the finish line with tactics like preparing hard-hitting
briefings for members on the horrors of caged rabbit farming and how to
phase it out, polling the public to show massive support for a ban, and
launching a sophisticated digital ads strategy to target key
decision-makers – then keep fighting to win crucial protections for all
animals.

Can you chip in now to help save animals from cruelty?

Demand for rabbit meat is growing incredibly fast worldwide – by the end
of next year 1.8 million tonnes of rabbit meat will have been farmed
globally.

To meet this demand, rabbits are kept in cruel, cramped cages in massive,
filthy facilities. An undercover investigation revealed that breeding and
older animals were isolated in individual cages completely alone – a cruel
fate for these social animals. Some were found with ear lesions so bad
that parts of their ears were missing.

After dragging its feet on plans to ban caged animal farming altogether,
the European Commission is feeling the heat. So we’re going to overwhelm
the Agriculture and Fisheries Council at its meeting in February and give
them no choice but to take action.

Our movement can make this issue massive in the media and launch smart
tactics to get decision-makers’ attention so that they know the world is
watching. But we can’t launch until we raise enough – can you chip in to
fuel this work to defend animals and nature everywhere?

Your donation will help power Ekō and our campaigns worldwide fighting for
people and the planet.

When we work together we’re a powerful force for change. Global pressure
forced the egg farming industry to lift its standards for chickens. And
just recently Ekō members like you were part of a push that saw California
pass a historic bill banning octopus farming!

Now, let’s call on the EU to fulfill its promises and ban caged rabbit
farming – together.

Thanks for all that you do,
Allison and the Ekō team
