Investigate birds
Winter is a tough time to observe Wyoming’s wildlife. Most animals are tucked away out of the cold. However, winter can be a great time to take a look at our flying, feathered friends: birds!
Birds that haven’t migrated for the winter are still out and about, searching for food. If you can find a bird’s favorite snack, the bird probably isn’t far behind. Finding birds can be as simple as looking out your window at a bird feeder or as adventurous as trudging into a snowy pine grove.
Winter colors, especially snow, can provide a nice contrast against which to observe bird colors and patterns. Once you find a bird, sketch it and answer the questions below!
