Fellow Conservative,

Monday is Memorial Day, a day that is rightfully set aside to honor, commemorate, and remember those who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. To the men and women who gave their lives in the preservation of liberty and freedom, we owe an unpayable debt.

Although this Memorial Day will certainly look different from most, it is still important that we take the opportunity to reach out and thank the men and women who have served our nation--especially the families of those who have sacrificed by paying the ultimate price in defense of freedom.
We hope you have a safe holiday weekend and are able to enjoy the blessings of friendship, family, and freedom.

Please keep reading for a rundown of what happened in Washington this past week.

In just 15 days, more than 100,000 people signed the petition to open American society. <[link removed]> These Americans did so because they believe in six core values:

- People should be free to travel, and governors should only implement stay-in-place orders in a targeted manner to address a specific, local need.
- Businesses should be open to the public, and governors should apply limited restrictions only where COVID-19 incidences are high.
- Americans should be responsible for getting themselves tested as needed, and governors should ensure testing is targeted to specific outbreaks.
- We must uphold and fiercely protect our Constitutional liberties, especially in times of crisis.
- Individuals have personal responsibility. They should be free to make informed decisions regarding social, health, and economic issues.
- Americans care for their neighbors. Individuals and businesses have risen to the challenge and clearly demonstrated their willingness and ability to take precautions to protect community members who are at-risk or vulnerable to COVID-19.

After receiving 100,000 signatures, Heritage Action Grassroots Director Janae Stracke attempted to deliver the petition to the National Governors Association… but no one was there. So she drove to Annapolis, Maryland, and delivered the petition to Governor Larry Hogan, the head of the association. This would not have been possible without all of YOU joining your voices together.

P.S. - If you think it is time to open American society, sign the petition: [link removed] <[link removed]>
Jessica Anderson on the Bill O’Reilly Show and Problematic Women Podcast

And if you’re into awesome podcasts, Jessica also discussed the need to open American society on The Daily Signal’s Problematic Women podcast <[link removed]>. Here’s a quick preview:
Folks all across the country are incredibly eager to open back up. They feel like they’ve done their part to slow the spread. They feel like New York City is different than suburbs of Dallas, Texas; different than Orlando, Florida; different than Iowa. And every state has a different influx of cases and a different capacity for their health care systems. And as such, they feel like we don’t need this one-size-fits-all blanket stay-at-home order from coast to coast.
You can listen to the full interview here <[link removed]>.

That’s all for this week. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend!
