Certifying the 2024 Election of President Donald J. Trump

I was proud to join fellow Mississippian, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, and Vice President-elect JD Vance this week on the House Floor to certify the election of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States.

Securing Our Border

I am proud to have the opportunity to work with President Trump to secure our border. The first bill to pass the House for the 119th Congress is the Laken Riley Act. The Laken Riley Act holds illegal immigrants accountable when they commit crimes like theft or burglary and requires they be detained and deported.

The bill was named after Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student in Georgia, who was killed by an illegal immigrant who had previously been released from custody on theft charges.

Securing our border and protecting Americans is our top priority. The Republican-led Congress will be working to pass legislation that makes our borders secure and our country safer.
