John, Republican Mike Johnson was forced to cut a back-room deal with members of his own party in order to secure his Speakership. Your guess is as good as mine as to what (or who!) he sold out to secure their votes.
This is only a glimpse of what a Republican House majority will look like for the next two years. If they have to coerce their members to agree on something as simple as a Speaker, just wait until they have to agree on something that’s actually complex (spoiler alert: they won’t be able to!)
