The Senate unanimously passed my bill, the Safeguarding America's First Responder Act, and it now sits in the House where we hope it will receive immediate consideration.

The Department of Justice and 52 attorneys general have voiced their support for this bill and how it would support our first responders and their families. I urge Speaker Pelosi to schedule a vote on this bill as soon as the House returns to session.

Unfortunately, House Democrats recently passed a bill which imposes a quarter of a trillion dollar retroactive tax increase on businesses in need of cash to restart their operations.

As states begin to lift shut-down orders, their legislation is a recipe for disaster.

I’m hopeful that we can maintain the bipartisan spirit of the CARES Act in the United States Senate as we chart the next steps to re-open the economy and get America safely back to work.
