Dear john,
Last week after the House of Representatives held our elections for Speaker of the House, we also voted on a new set of rules that dictate how the institution will be run over the next two years.
Written solely by Republicans, these rules included individual legislation that give us insight into their priorities for the upcoming 119th Congress. You can read them here.
I will say I'm disappointed for the bills' lack of bipartisanship. There's also nothing about addressing lower costs. Most of the bills that are included passed last Congress with little to no Democratic votes.
With even slimmer majorities this year, I'm concerned about the quality of the bills and the overall productivity of our government. If the last two years are any indications, I'm weary about the direction of the 119th Congress.
