Dear Friend,

Today, the 103rd Michigan State Legislature convened at the State Capitol. I am honored to welcome new and returning members to Lansing and excited to keep working together to move Michigan forward.

Over the last few years, we got a lot done to make a real difference in people’s lives. We cut taxes by $1 billion for working families and seniors, secured tens of thousands of good-paying auto jobs, and saw record-low unemployment rates. We lowered costs for families by making record investments in education, including free school breakfast and lunch for every public-school student, expanded access to free preschool, and built more housing so more people have an affordable, safe place to call home.

In 2025, I look forward to collaborating with the new majority in the Michigan State House and will always be ready to work with anyone who is serious about solving problems.

As governor, I’ve signed more than 1,400 bipartisan bills and enacted six balanced budgets. Let’s continue working across the aisle to deliver on the issues that matter most to Michiganders.

Together, let’s make Michigan a better state to live, work, and invest.

Sincerely,

Gretchen Whitmer

Governor
