The Republican Party's pointless internal feuding continues into 2025, as Mike Johnson was narrowly re-elected Speaker of the House.

Johnson's grasp over the Speakership is especially perilous given the growing faction of ultra-rightwing “rebels” within the Republican Caucus who played the decisive role in the ouster of his predecessor.

With with all of the vacancies created after Trump appointed sitting members of Congress to his Cabinet, the House GOP is left with a single vote majority.
