Friday marked the start of the 119th Congress. I won’t sugarcoat it: We will face challenges with this new Congress—that’s something we’ve all known since the election results rolled in. Both chambers are now controlled by Republicans. And in less than two weeks, Donald Trump will become President of the United States again.

I know you may be feeling uncertain about what’s next for our country. But I want you to know that no matter who holds the majorities in the House and Senate, or who is in the White House, I will never stop working to make our nation a place where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Our democracy is at a crossroads. With Donald Trump and his cronies in office, we are going to need to work even harder together to keep MAGA extremism in check.
