The next four years are going to be full of challenges for immigrant communities and families, Friend.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate some of our year-end achievements which wouldn’t have been possible without your support.
In 2004, Maria Woltjen founded the Young Center on a shoestring budget and worked with 70 immigrant children in federal detention. Twenty years, ten offices, and over 100 staff later, our impact and reach is far greater, thanks to our community's support.
In 2024, thanks to you, we:
* Provided 1,841 children in federal detention with the accompaniment and support of Child Advocates.
* Offered 30,252 services, ranging from ongoing case advocacy to community support.
* Conducted 20 trainings nationally, bringing 322 new Volunteer Child Advocates to work with unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in government custody.
* We offered technical assistance to service providers working with 95 families impacted by the Trump administration's family separation policy of 2017 and 2018.
* Supported children who arrived here from more than 52 countries around the globe.
* We fought to ensure new government regulations that strengthen protections for unaccompanied children with disabilities, expand legal representation and support from Child Advocates, as well as uphold other critical protections for children
These numbers show the power of community and a collective challenge against hate.
As we celebrate our 20 year anniversary at the Young Center, join us in holding the line for justice and for immigrant families.
