Thank you for supporting immigrants

Your support and commitment to justice have made an incredible difference in 2024, and we are deeply appreciative of you!

Thanks to you, we ended 2024 on a high note: NIJC surpassed our new year's match goal of $52,500 in the final days of the year! These vital funds will empower us to provide life-changing legal services to immigrants and refugees in the months ahead.

Together, we will: 1) Push back against harmful policies, 2) Expand access to life-saving legal representation, and 3) Defend the rights and dignity of immigrants seeking safety and opportunity in the United States.

NIJC challenges Biden's final rule to further restrict asylum access

NIJC and partner organizations are challenging the Biden administration's final anti-asylum rule that aims to further curb access to asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The rule, which takes effect January 17, 2025, will insert new complex barriers into the initial asylum screening process, adding another layer onto regulations that have effectively ended access to asylum at the border for many people seeking protection.

Read more about how we’re challenging this new rule in court here.

IN THE NEWS: NIJC Associate Director of Litigation Mark Fleming recently joined community advocates on WBEZ Chicago's "Reset with Sasha-Ann Simons" to discuss these legal protections and how we are preparing to defend our neighbors.
