More Protests Planned
Hundreds of civil servants in Hong Kong expressed their outrage over the extreme measures police are taking against the anti-communist demonstrators.
In a petition, the civil servants declared, "We have lost count of the number of 'crimes against humanity' Hong Kong police committed and we feel ashamed to call them colleagues." They also indicated that they may join the protests unless the government makes concessions.
Meanwhile, the Epoch Times reports that organizers are hoping for a "record turnout" at demonstrations this weekend.
This is a dangerous time for the pro-democracy movement. Beijing made a point of publicly flexing its muscles this week with a massive display of troops from the People's Armed Police Force deployed on Hong Kong's border.
Please remember to keep the people of Hong Kong in your prayers this weekend.
Our Better Angels
President Trump has taken a lot of criticism lately from left-wing pundits about his rhetoric and for not doing enough to unite the country. He is hardly the first president to face such criticism. In his first inaugural address, Abraham Lincoln spoke to a bitterly divided country and appealed to the "better angels of our nature."
During a speech in New Hampshire last night, President Trump once again called for unity. Here's what he said:
"Our movement is built on love. . . We love our family. We love our faith. We love our flag and we love our freedom, and that's what it's about. We love our neighbors and we love our country."
It is a beautiful quote, and, of course, it is true. Without any doubt, I know all of you reading this would agree with those words. This is something the president has said before, and I hope we hear him say it many more times in the days and weeks ahead.
Values Voter Summit
Join me in our nation's capital, October 11th - 13th, for the 2019 Values Voter Summit.
Vice President Mike Pence said, "The Values Voter Summit [is] the greatest gathering of conservative pro-family Americans in the nation." And he is absolutely right!
That's why American Values has been a proud sponsor of the Summit every year.
As always, this year's Summit will feature an incredible lineup of top government officials, opinion makers and faith leaders.
There will be educational and informative breakout sessions, as well as events honoring those who have made significant contributions to the conservative movement.
American Values will be hosting a special luncheon Saturday, October 12th.
Register now at valuesvotersummit.org.
I look forward to seeing you there.
AllSocial
Thanks to the outstanding work of Project Veritas, we learned more this week about the bias of Big Tech. Zachary Vorhies, a former Google employee, recently went public with his concerns about the "dark and nefarious [activities] going on with the company," including manipulating search results and black listing conservative sites.
Of course, we know it's not just Google. A number of Big Tech companies have aligned themselves with the SPLC, a radical left-wing hate group, that equates pro-family groups with the KKK. Big Tech is letting the SPLC and other far-left groups dictate online speech codes.
