Friend, birthright citizenship is a bedrock principle of American democracy.

If you’re born here, you’re an American citizen. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Once we open the door to the erosion of birthright citizenship, we open the door to the politicalization and weaponization of the entire concept of American citizenship. Autocrats like Trump could decide who is and isn’t a citizen simply based on race, ethnicity, religion, ideology, or even just his whims.

We’re not going to let Donald Trump attack the civil rights of millions of Americans. We will stand against it in every way we can.
