John, these statistics haunt me…as a parent, as an educator-survivor of the Sandy Hook shooting, and as an advocate in the movement to end gun violence.

In 2024 alone,

21 states had a school shooting take place.

83 schools/universities were affected by a shooting.

31,000 K-12 students experienced a school shooting.

All of these numbers should be zero. We cannot let these statistics continue to rise, John.

Educators are on the frontlines of this movement for safer schools. And here at Teachers Unify, we’re working every day to give teachers, school staff, and administrators the resources they need to address the threat of gun violence in the classroom and train them to be advocates across the country.

We won’t stop our work until every statistic above is zero.
