Health care in the United States has turned into a political game. In our community, however, health care is personal.

John, we already knew that folks in rural Southwest Washington have had limited access to hospitals and health care for years. But what we just found out is that this pandemic has left the six rural hospitals in our community on the brink of financial collapse. This disproportionately affects low-income individuals and forces families to make hard choices -- choices that no child, parent, or sibling should have to grapple with.

This didn’t happen by circumstance alone. Carolyn’s opponent has time and again opposed expanding Medicaid in Washington -- despite its critical role in keeping our rural hospitals open.
