We did it, AFSCME Family!

President Biden has officially signed the Social Security Fairness Act into law, repealing the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) and bringing an end to decades of reduced Social Security benefits for millions of public service employees nationwide.

In the words of AFSCME President Lee Saunders, it was a steep hill to climb, but today, we see the results of our tireless advocacy.

Together, our union left no stone unturned to right this wrong. With more than 15,000 calls, texts, and letters, AFSCME members gave our elected officials no choice but to stop denying us the full retirement benefits we earned.

WHAT THIS MEANS »

Whether it’s this victory or record strong contracts, this is just the latest example of how strength in numbers and being part of a union built for public service workers delivers for AFSCME members.

In Solidarity,

AFSCME
