Team, after House Democrats passed a sweeping relief bill designed to provide aid for local governments and additional, much-needed direct payments to individuals who are struggling, POLITICO reports this:

...the Republican Senate majority has no immediate plans to produce an alternative. Instead, senators are expected to consider a handful of lifetime judicial appointments this week and then head home for the Memorial Day recess.

You read that right. Millions of families are struggling right now. Unemployment is projected to be close to the highest rate during the Great Depression, and more of Kentucky’s workforce is unemployed than any other state due to COVID-19. But Mitch’s only priority this week has been to push his political agenda by packing the courts—then packing his bags and heading home for a long weekend.

Look, the coronavirus doesn’t care who you vote for. Across the country, we’re seeing leaders on both sides of the aisle who are capable of rising to the occasion. But Mitch is taking every opportunity to turn this crisis into a partisan issue, whether it’s slow-walking direct aid for the American people, belittling critical relief for local governments (which Kentucky needs) as “blue state bailouts” or seizing every chance to advance his goal of “leave no vacancy behind.”

At the end of the day, whatever best serves the interests of Mitch and his powerful friends goes at the top of Mitch’s list. The people he represents are lucky if they’re even an afterthought.

Mitch has shown us he’s not changing—not even a once-in-a-century pandemic can get him to put politics aside. The only way to change him is to show him the door—if you can, chip in and let’s elect a leader who’ll put people first:
