I am pleased to share with you an exciting milestone in our efforts to enhance programming for children and families in Northern Virginia. 

Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) and Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) of Northern Virginia have merged, effective January 1, 2025.  As a result, we will integrate SCAN’s Alexandria/ Arlington Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program and regional parenting education programs into NVFS, to create an even more comprehensive continuum of services supporting children and families.  You can read the press release HERE.

By integrating these programs with our existing early childhood education, youth initiatives, Healthy Families, and other family support services, we can provide even more tools to help individuals and families transform their lives for generations to come.

For over 35 years, SCAN has worked to make Northern Virginia a safer place for children.  We are honored to be able to build upon SCAN’s vision and continue these critical services as a part of NVFS. This merger represents our shared commitment to fostering stronger, safer communities by supporting families through challenging times.
