As a new Congress meets to certify the 2024 presidential election, we all remember what happened four years ago today.

We have not forgotten that the man enjoying the time-honored peaceful transition of power is the man who destroyed that tradition four years ago.

We have not forgotten that Republicans — horrified on January 6th — went on to excuse that deliberate attack on the foundation of our nation in the days, weeks, and years after it. Many have even defended, and worse, celebrated, that day.

We have not forgotten the promises Trump made to pardon the domestic terrorists who stormed the Capitol and left hundreds of police injured.

And it is impossible to forget that, in spite of our best efforts, the man most responsible for that day will again inhabit the office of Commander in Chief.

It is a dark day.

But the fight is not over.

VoteVets has not surrendered.

As we prepare for Trump to take the oath of office, we are gearing up to hold his administration accountable. We are working with our allies to hold the line against the worst aims of this new administration. We are already beginning the work of recruiting and advising new leaders who will campaign for public office to take back Congress and take on Trump and his allies in states and cities around the country. We are fighting to stop the spread of right-wing disinformation among military servicemembers and Veterans.

There is no shortage of work to do. And you have a critical role in supporting it.
