Donald Trump has a long history of appointing unqualified loyalists to top government positions.

But his appointment of Louis DeJoy is the most egregious yet. The first USPS head in over 20 years to not rise through the agency’s ranks, DeJoy has no qualifications to be Postmaster General -- except for the fact that he’s an RNC fundraiser who’s donated $2 million to Trump’s campaign.

As payback for that gift, DeJoy will run the USPS -- which is now facing bankruptcy, and where a top Post Office official who’d previously advocated for vote-by-mail elections has just been forced out.

We can’t let Trump replace hardworking USPS officials with his cronies. We must act now to save this American institution and protect minority and low-income communities that will be hit hardest if the USPS folds. And we must reject any attempt by Republicans to squash vote-by-mail -- the only safe way many Americans may have to vote this election.
