California Business Roundtable Issues Statement
in Response to Governor Newsom's Budget

SACRAMENTO—California Business Roundtable President Rob Lapsley issued the following statement today in response to Governor Newsom's 2025-26 Budget Topline presentation: 

"While we appreciate Governor Gavin Newsom's presentation today where he declared that his “word of the year” will be accountability, the business community will continue to focus on affordability, ensuring the Legislature supports policies that directly impact the state’s ongoing policy-driven affordability crisis, which has made California a leader in highest gas prices, highest electricity rates, highest housing prices, and highest poverty rate."
