John,
Four years ago, Donald Trump inspired an attack on our Capitol in an effort to stop the peaceful transfer of power for an election that he lost.
Today, Democrats committed to upholding our nation’s institutions and democratic values will peacefully certify the results of the November election.
Every leader in our country, no matter what party, should reaffirm their commitment to these values to ensure an attack like January 6th never happens again. While we are undoubtedly disappointed in the November outcomes, we are proud of our elected Democrats unflinching commitment to democracy and the peaceful transfer of power.
We can be proud that Colorado not only delivered its electoral votes for Kamala Harris but that 30 of our counties moved towards Democrats. We know we have an incredible amount of work to do to reclaim lost ground in the fights to come.
Donald Trump will be sworn in on January 20th and he will swiftly begin enacting key aspects of his Project 2025 Agenda — gutting regulations that protect workers, outsourcing our jobs across the globe, and cutting taxes for his friends and donors.
Democrats have a choice to make. We can lie down and let the Republicans enact policies that will damage our country for decades, or we can get back up, get back in the fight and take every action possible to block Trump and his MAGA agenda from seeing the light of day.
As Leader Jeffries said, “There are some in this country who apparently believe that the freedom of economic opportunity that made them wealthy should not apply to everyone else. Our message to that crowd is simple. Democrats will never abandon the long walk toward freedom. We will fight hard to defend the freedom of opportunity that makes the American dream possible.”
The Colorado Democratic Party does not intend to let up even one inch. We will continue to lead the nation with our blueprint for how to bring people together around a vision of prosperity, abundance, and freedom that includes everyone and puts our values to action for working people.
I hope you will join us in this fight and consider a donation to help us hit the ground running this new year. [[link removed]]
