Here's a sentence I'd hoped I'd never have to write:

In the middle of a once-in-a-lifetime global pandemic, our country's leaders want to put your life on the line, and simultaneously take away your health care.

Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers around the country are trying desperately to downplay the severity of this health care crisis and rush states into reopening, against the advice of health care professionals.

We've already seen in states that have rushed to reopen, a surge of new cases of COVID-19. This isn't about politics, it's about science.

To make matters worse, while our friends and neighbors are sick and dying, Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are still pushing craven lawsuits to overturn the Affordable Care Act, to make it harder for Americans to get access to the care they need, to make it so expensive to seek treatment that people will stay home rather than see a doctor or go to the hospital.

A pandemic is a disaster where we should put politics aside and do everything we can to save as many lives as possible.
