John,
Scientists and health care professionals are racing to find new treatments and a cure for COVID-19. But while we wait, we can work together to help stop the spread.
Wearing a mask is proven to help limit the spread of the disease, but as we've seen, they're not readily available and accessible to all that need them.
In Illinois, there are two organizations stepping up to help meet this challenge: Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach in Springfield and RefugeeOne in Chicago.
Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach is coordinating the collection and distribution of personal protective equipment, like cloth masks, to the Central Illinois community.
And RefugeeOne, a Chicago-based organization dedicated to helping refugees resettle in the city, is spearheading a mask-making project that has already distributed more than 1,600 masks.
So here's my ask, John: If you're able to give back during this time of crisis, will you consider making a contribution to these Illinois organizations now to help them continue making and distributing masks to those who need them?

Thank you for all you are doing in this uncertain time. I hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe.
My best,
Dick Durbin
