Friend,
January 6th, 2021. I was there. It was awful. Police officers were attacked and abused. An inflamed mob wanted to stop the electoral count, people were running for their lives. It was an embarrassing and disgraceful day. I was one of the first members of congress to “tweet” that morning. The country exhausted from Covid and negativity, we were all still wearing masks.
Those are the facts, this is what happened. Our democracy continued, the markets barely moved, but we came very close to losing a lot more. Lives were lost, over 120 Capitol police were injured. Acts of treason and subterfuge and a surreal event to pay witness as they unfolded.
Let’s continue to stay vigilant and not forget what happened and how too many of our fellow countrymen and women were motivated to attack their own government based on falsehoods.
Sincerely,
Haley Stevens
