Hello Friend,
Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.
GETTING BACK TO WORK
As we commence the 119th Congress, I look forward to continue serving FL-18 and providing resources that help make a difference in our community. My commitment remains the same, to fight for the issues that matter to us most and ensure our government works for YOU – not DC insiders.
Last week, I voted to re-elect Mike Johnson as Speaker and approve the 119th Congress rules package, so House Republicans can immediately get back to work and put America first. This commonsense rules package will increase transparency and ensure Congress focuses on providing RESULTS. I’m eager to help President Trump execute an America First agenda and put our nation on a brighter trajectory.
2024 YEAR IN REVIEW
2024 was an impactful year full of meaningful initiatives to improve our quality of life and address the biggest challenges facing our nation. I introduced eight original bills, cosponsored 122 others and worked to secure $27 million for critical projects in Florida's Heartland.
Read more about actions I took throughout the year to secure our border, grow our economy, rebuild our energy independence and shrink bloated government:
✔ Voted for H.R. 2 to finish the border wall, fix the asylum system and hire new border patrol;
✔ Cosponsored H.J. Res. 113 to require the federal government to balance their budget;
✔ Introduced H.R. 662 & H.R. 4464 to give the USDA standing authority to use block grants to disburse disaster funds;
✔ Voted for H.R. 1 to lower energy costs, boost critical mineral production and streamline the permit process;
✔ Cosponsored H.R. 7623 to expand and reauthorize telehealth services for Medicare beneficiaries;
✔ Introduced legislation to protect community care and prevent disruption in care for veterans already receiving services from private providers;
✔ Introduced H.R. 914 to simplify the federal grant application process and help smaller communities access funding for critical local projects;
✔ Voted for H.R. 7198 to hold the executive branch accountable and empower small business owners to have a voice in the rulemaking process.
2024 was also a memorable year engaging with the community. From helping veterans at VetFest and promoting military service during Academy Days; to seeing the next generation shine through our Cyber Capture the Flag tournament, and Congressional Art and App Challenges, it’s truly an honor to serve Central Florida.
Please remember we are here to help you. Last year, we opened 1,068 cases with federal agencies and closed 1,043. We also helped FL-18 constituents receive $2 million in federal funding they were owed by agencies.
