Hi–
Today marks four years since the attack on our nation's Capitol. The
extremists Trump emboldened were armed, organized, and ready to kill our
elected officials.

reads: During the arrests around the Capitol attack, police seized enough
ammunition to shoot every member of the House and Senate five times.
But armed extremism didn't start with the insurrection at the Capitol. The
attack on January 6th happened because of the conspiracy theories and
violent rhetoric circulated by extremists and then validated by
lawmakers—including our then-President and current President-elect.
The same hate-fueled rhetoric, far-right extremism, and armed
demonstrations remain a persistent threat to our safety and our democracy,
even four years later.
Especially as we enter another Trump presidency, as our federal lawmakers
return to work this week, we need to make sure they're taking this threat
seriously—because it's their job to keep us safe.

Everyday gun violence and armed extremism, like the armed insurrection on
January 6th, are the result of choices made by lawmakers who prioritize
gun industry profits over our lives. And we deserve better from our
lawmakers.
Thanks for starting 2025 by taking action,
Everytown for Gun Safety
