Hi friend --
In his weekend commencement address to graduates of historically black colleges and universities, former president Barack Obama appealed to a new generation of leadership.
He told graduating seniors that writing the next chapter of American history would be in their hands -- and that they shouldn’t trust the people in the White House to fix things for them. Specifically, Obama said:
“More than anything, this pandemic has fully, finally torn back the curtain on the idea that so many of the folks in charge know what they’re doing. A lot of them aren’t even pretending to be in charge. If the world’s going to get better, it’s going to be up to you.”
In context, that seems like an accurate and even inspirational message. Of course, Donald Trump didn’t see it that way -- taking Obama’s commencement address as a personal slight and firing back by calling Obama “grossly incompetent.”
Trump’s never had the same way with words that Obama does. But now the 44th president is coming under fire for criticizing his successor, even indirectly. Tell us what you think:
