4 years ago today, my uncle Donald incited a violent, deadly insurrection that shook our country to its core.

To nobody’s surprise, he’s only gotten more hateful and divisive since then.

That stain on our country’s history will still be there long after Donald leaves office, and as we brace for his second term, it’s critical that we don’t ignore the lessons we’ve learned since he came down the damn escalator.

We know that he can be beaten, and that when people come together and fight back, we have what it takes to knock down some of his worst policies and childish impulses.

But doing so requires constant vigilance, John.
