Friend,

Today marks the four-year anniversary of the January 6 insurrection. At the instruction of Donald Trump, a violent mob attacked the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden as the legitimate winner of the 2020 presidential election, physically injuring over 100 police officers and causing immeasurable psychological harm. Five responding police officers died in the aftermath of the insurrection.  

January 6 was a dark day for our country. And yet, despite inciting a riot at our Capitol and attempting to overturn a legitimate presidential election in 2021, Donald Trump will be certified as the next president of the United States today. 

Over the next four years, we must never forget the role Donald Trump played in this attack on our democracy. We must continue holding him accountable, and we must stick together to fight back against MAGA extremism.
