When John and I were newly married, as he was serving in the Army in Germany, we were denied the ability to vote because our absentee ballots arrived a day after the election. I remember thinking, this shouldn't happen to anyone.

Once we returned to the States, I started a nearly 30-year career ensuring every eligible voter in my state had the opportunity to register and vote. My job is to protect the voting rights of every eligible voter and keep our elections secure.? ?
