Donald Trump’s war on climate progress continues and this time, he’s targeting one of our greatest tools for clean air, good jobs, and safer working conditions: the USPS Green Fleet Initiative.
The USPS planned to electrify 62% of its fleet modernizing mail trucks with safer, more efficient electric vehicles (EVs). These trucks aren’t just better for the planet; they provide workers with air conditioning, heating, and crucial safety upgrades long overdue in a fleet that hasn’t been updated in decades.
The benefits are undeniable. Tens of thousands of American jobs, especially at manufacturers like Oshkosh and Ford, hang in the balance. Local communities would see reduced air pollution and carbon emissions. And yet, Trump’s effort to cancel these EV contracts would lock us into decades of fossil fuel dependence, putting frontline communities and our climate in harm’s way.
This isn’t just an attack on climate progress, it’s an attack on the independence and future of the USPS. We can’t let it happen.
Stand with workers, stand with our planet. Demand USPS leadership protect the Green Fleet Initiative.
Every EV represents a commitment to a safer, cleaner future for postal workers and the communities they serve. Without this program, workers will continue driving outdated, unsafe, and highly polluting vehicles. Families in frontline neighborhoods will bear the brunt of increased air pollution. And as the climate crisis escalates, this lost opportunity will cost us dearly.
We know Trump’s playbook. His administration gutted fuel efficiency standards, withdrew from global climate agreements, and denied the science of climate change. Now he’s poised to use the USPS -- a lifeline for millions -- to push his fossil fuel agenda once again.
But we have the power to stop this. Grassroots action has defeated anti-climate rollbacks before, and we can do it again. Every signature, every message to USPS leadership sends a loud and clear message: Protect the Green Fleet, protect our future.
Together, we can ensure USPS moves forward, not backward. Join us in demanding USPS leadership fight for this historic investment in workers, public health, and the planet.
Let’s fight for climate justice, safer working conditions, and a cleaner future for all of us.
