Folks –
On this day four years ago, the U.S. Capitol came under siege by a violent mob determined to stop the peaceful transfer of power.
We can’t forget the scenes of that day, and we can’t forget the promises we made in the aftermath: never again would we let it get this bad.
In the end, our democracy was tested and lives were lost.
Today, we’re reminded that lies and fearmongering play a significant role in dividing our country. To this end, we must do more to tackle disinformation and uplift Americans’ deeply-held aspirations, not their biggest fears.
We need to continue our work of bringing people together under the shared belief that our country’s best days are still ahead of us. That includes championing legislation that’s widely supported by Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike.
Let’s continue to call out hatred and lies where we see them, and work towards common ground for the good of every American.
With resolve,
- Antonio
